A new theme to explore together

Brèches’ second thematic cycle takes root in the sensitive present. From there, it opens onto the imagination: our ability to question what we take for granted, loosen the boundaries of fixed ways of thinking, and envision new ways of inhabiting the world.

A living imagination as a source of creativity, liberation, and transformation.

In a time marked by uncertainty and upheaval, we want to explore the role imagination plays in shaping our relationship with the world. The stories we tell—and the stories we carry within us—deeply influence the ways we see, act, and live together. They can limit what we imagine to be possible, but they can also open unexpected paths toward futures that are more just, more sensitive, more ecological, and more joyful.

For a long time, imagination was set aside in favour of reason, often dismissed as an escape from reality. Yet, as philosopher Cornelius Castoriadis reminds us, imagination plays a fundamental role in shaping social reality itself. Far from being merely a space for fantasy or projection, it can be a powerful force for reimagining and transforming the world. For writer and literary critic Ève Lambert, imagination is not decorative—it has the power to profoundly transform the way we see and inhabit the world.

This shift in perspective is already underway, and Brèches wants to be part of it. We want to explore the transformative possibilities that emerge when we engage deeply with our imaginaries: those that live within us, those we create together, and those we have yet to imagine.

This is where new symbols can emerge, new stories can take shape, and new ways of telling the story of our world—and of finding our place within it—can come to life.

We’re beginning our exploration of this new theme gently, with three fall gatherings that will take us to the threshold between sleep and dreams, opening onto spaces of creativity, transformation, intuition, and self-discovery.
